Position Title: Laboratory Assistant

Location : Irvine, CA

Summary:

The laboratory assistant will support the testing of biosensors following standard operating procedures and assist with the chemical functionalization of sensors. Additionally, they will handle other tasks as assigned by the Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Sensor testing through provided protocols using electrochemical techniques
  • Iterative optimization of sensor testing protocols
  • Testing different materials and methods for sensor functionalization
  • Help with automation of functionalization and testing procedures
  • Conducting meticulous data collection and preliminary analysis
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with safety protocols

Skills & Abilities:

Must be thoroughly familiar with chemistry equipment (pipettes, centrifuges, etc.) and methods (thawing, mixing, etc.). Must have basic knowledge of process development and testing techniques. Must know how to handle different biological materials (enzymes, crosslinking agents) and other sensitive materials.

Education & Experience:

Undergraduate and graduate degrees with a science emphasis or equivalent. The applicant possesses a solid educational foundation in laboratory sciences coupled with hands-on experience in laboratory procedures.

Position Title: Embedded Systems Engineer

Location : Irvine, CA

Summary:

The Embedded System Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain embedded systems for medical sensors. This includes wearable devices with microcontrollers and Bluetooth capabilities. The embedded engineer will program the wearable for low-power operation, e.g., on a coin cell battery for over a week.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • BLE programming for ultra-low-power operation
  • Interfacing electrical components (e.g., amplifiers, comparators) with a microcontroller
  • Testing different device configurations for optimal performance
  • Help with the automation of testing procedures
  • Conducting meticulous data collection and preliminary analysis
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with safety protocols

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages
  • Experience with microcontroller/microprocessor-based embedded systems
  • Ability to work with hardware and software teams to integrate systems
  • Understanding of Bluetooth, Amplifiers, and Comparators
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience with medical device regulations is a plus

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
